5 Foods You Should Eat To Support Your Sexual Health

Updated: Jun 6, 2022

We all know that the human body requires a certain amount of nutrients in order to function optimally. While most people might know that Vitamin C and zinc are important for your body, not many people realize how much nutrients can help boost their sexual health.

Whether you've just started dating someone or are trying to spice up your marriage, eating a nutritional diet plays an important role. One can't expect to be healthy in mind and body if one continues to eat fast food and drink energy drinks.

So we’re giving you 6 foods you can start eating right now to help increase your sex drive.

1. Honey

Honey is a delicious and natural source of fructose, which is the sweet sugar found in fruits. It also contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that can help you to feel more energetic. Honey is perfect for baking because it's sweeter than regular sugar so you don't need as much to get the full flavor of your recipes!

Honey also increases testosterone levels in men, making sex drive easier to achieve. Men who ate honey had higher levels of testosterone compared with those who ate sucrose or glucose within two hours after eating the food supplement containing honey.

2. Oysters

Oysters are high in zinc, which helps to boost testosterone levels. They're also a good source of vitamin B12, which helps to increase libido. A study published in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism found that men who consumed a diet high in zinc had higher levels of testosterone compared to those who ate less zinc.

It's important to note that this study was conducted on rats—not humans—and no direct link between oysters and an increase in sex drive has been established yet. However, the researchers did note that their findings were "consistent with previous studies" linking food consumption with hormone release (such as when eating spicy foods can cause your body temperature to rise).

If you're interested in trying it out yourself, there's plenty of information available online about how much you should eat per day or week depending on your personal weight and health needs.

You may also get zinc from the following foods:

  • Nuts

  • Meat

  • Shellfish

  • Dairy

  • Eggs

  • Whole Grain

  • Potatoes

3. Avocados

If you’re looking to increase your sex drive, avocados may be a good place to start.

Avocados include beneficial fats for hormonal health. Avocados also contain magnesium and boron, both of which have been linked to boosting testosterone levels for some people in studies.

Boron is a trace mineral that appears to affect testosterone metabolism and may defend against testosterone breakdown in the body.

4. Bananas

Bananas are rich in potassium—a mineral that helps reduce blood pressure and maintain normal heart rhythm while improving circulation by balancing sodium levels in the body (which affects how well you feel).

Potassium deficiency can cause fatigue as well as problems with sexual desire by reducing the production of testosterone in men—the hormone responsible for sexual desire—and estrogen in women—the hormone responsible for libido

5. Foods rich in B vitamins

B vitamins are known to help with energy levels and mood, so if your sex drive is suffering, a B vitamin deficiency may be the culprit. B vitamins are found in whole grains, beans, and vegetables such as asparagus and spinach. Some proteins like beef liver or cod also contain B vitamins. And don't forget dairy products like milk and cheese!

You may not realize it, but your diet can have a big impact on your sex drive. One of the best ways to increase your libido is to eat foods that are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins are essential for the production of hormones and neurotransmitters that help boost your libido. You can find high levels of B vitamins in meats, poultry, fish, and eggs; nuts and seeds; legumes (beans); whole grains; fruits; vegetables, and milk products (yogurt).
